Veterans Business Outreach Centers (VBOC)

U.S. Small Business Administration

FREE SERVICE

What this actually is

Free entrepreneurial development services for service members, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, military spouses and family members: workshops, one-to-one counselling and mentorship, business plan development, financial statement review, and specialised training in manufacturing, international trade, franchising and internet marketing. The Boots to Business course runs for transitioning service members and B2B Reboot for veterans already out. No charge to eligible participants. Note that military spouses and family members are explicitly included — that is frequently missed.

Who qualifies, and what trips people up

Veterans of all eras, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve, military spouses, and family members of those groups. Centres are organised by region; the SBA page lists them with contact details. Boots to Business is delivered on installations for those still serving, so ask your transition office as well as the VBOC.
