What this actually is

If you have been shown "the government may owe you unclaimed funds," that is true and the search is FREE. Every state runs an unclaimed property office and searching it costs nothing. Finder services charge a percentage to tell you what a free search would have told you, and most states cap what a finder may charge. Search your own state first, and every state you have lived in.

Who qualifies, and what trips people up

No eligibility test. You will need identification and proof of your connection to the address or account on file. Claims are free to file in every state.
