Federal Trade Commission (site operated by the three nationwide credit bureaus under federal law)
FREE SERVICEAnnualCreditReport.com is the ONLY site authorised to give you the free credit reports federal law entitles you to. Equifax, Experian and TransUnion each must give you one free report every 12 months, and the bureaus have made weekly free reports permanently available through that site. You can also call 1-877-322-8228 or mail the request form to P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281. ⚠️ The FTC warns that many imposter sites use similar names or misspelled URLs and exist to sell you services or to collect and misuse your personal information. Requesting your own report does NOT hurt your credit score — that belief is why people avoid checking.
Everyone is entitled; there is no income test and no charge. Pull all three reports, because each bureau holds different information from different furnishers. A legitimate bureau will not email you asking for your Social Security number or account details. If a site asks for a credit card, you are on the wrong site.
